Parents’ Commitment to Providing Quality Childcare

Mums & Dads Committed to Finding Great Childcare in Australia

A recent study has shown that the majority of Australian parents are committed to finding high-quality childcare for their children. The study, which was conducted by Galaxy Research on behalf of Goodstart Early Learning, found that an overwhelming 92% of parents would make a commitment to finding great care if it meant their child could have a better future. This is great news for Australia’s early childhood education sector, as it shows that parents recognise the importance of quality care and are willing to invest in it.

Every year, parents seek an Early Learning Centre to shape their children’s learning and development. They want an ELC that will nurture their kids, provide a safe environment, and allow them to learn and grow. But with childcare costs rising and availability decreasing, it’s becoming harder for parents to find quality care.

The Galaxy Research study found that 71% of parents would be willing to pay more for quality childcare. This is a significant increase from the 61% of parents who said they would be willing to pay more in 2015. The research also found that parents are willing to make sacrifices to afford quality childcare; one in four parents would be willing to work fewer hours and one in five would be willing to move to a new location.

So, what does this all mean? It means that parents are committed to finding quality child care, even if it means making sacrifices.

A Place to Learn and Grow

Whether you’ve sought high-quality childcare before or this is your first time, here are some important considerations to keep in mind:

Learning and Growth – Your child must have opportunities to learn and grow while in childcare. Look for programs that are accredited and offer a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Without some form of learning attached, your child could be behind by the time they start school.

Safety and Security – Of course, you’ll want to make sure the facility is clean and well-maintained. Ask about their safety procedures and check to see if they are up to date on their licensing.

Affordability – Childcare is a big expense for many families. Be sure to ask about pricing and discounts because some centres offer sibling discounts or payment plans that can make childcare more affordable. Whatever you do, don’t just assume that childcare is out of the question.

Collaboration – The best childcare facilities will work with you to ensure that your child is getting the care and attention they need. Be sure to ask about communication policies and how the staff will keep you updated on your child’s progress.

It’s important to do your research when looking for quality childcare. Be sure to ask around for recommendations and read online reviews; once you’ve narrowed down your options, schedule a tour of the facility so you can get a feel for the environment and meet the staff. With a little effort, you’re sure to find childcare that meets your needs and gives you peace of mind when you’re working.

If your relationship with a childcare service sours, don’t hesitate to look elsewhere; the well-being of your child is too important to use a facility that doesn’t have your trust!
